JEAN-MICHEL PELAPRAT
CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Jean-Michel’s laser industry experience includes 12 years at Coherent, Inc., where he was vice president and general manager for the diode-pumped solid-state laser division and the semiconductor laser division. He was also vice president of strategic marketing, focusing on expanding the company’s leadership in the graphic arts and display markets. Jean-Michel is an accomplished executive with expertise in international market growth, strategic planning, business turn-around, acquisition integration, and general management. He holds a degree in physics from the University of Montpellier, France.
WILLIAM MACKENZIE
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
William Mackenzie has 20 years of international semiconductor experience in sales, engineering and operations functions. He has served in executive management roles for companies ranging from innovative startups to Fortune 500 companies. Prior to Novalux Mackenzie was CEO of Oxford Semiconductor, Inc., a world leader in high-performance interconnectivity solutions. He has also been vice president of operations and manufacturing for Centillium Communications and senior director with LSI Logic Corporation. Mackenzie holds a degree in Applied Physics with high honors from University of Strathclyde in Scotland.
GARY SHROYER
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Gary Shroyer joined Novalux after serving as chief operating officer for eRealty, Inc. Over the past 10 years he has held president, chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and vice president of finance positions in both public and venture-backed private companies, including Brokat Technologies AG, Blaze Software, Inc., and Maxtor Corporation. Gary’s experience includes a successful initial public offering, a secondary public offering, and over 10 M&A transactions. He received his MBA in 1984 from the University of Colorado.
MICHAEL (MITCH) JANSEN
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Mitch Jansen has spent more than 20 years working in the photonics industry. Most recently, he was vice president of engineering at Coherent, Inc., where he brought numerous high-power laser diode products to volume manufacturing, and spearheaded Aluminum-free technology. Prior, he was senior vice president and general manager of Bandwidth9, where he developed the company’s core tunable laser and locker technologies and rolled out its tunable transmitters. Mitch was co-founder and vice president of engineering at APT, a commercial high-power diode laser startup, which became a Uniphase business unit. He holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has delivered over 140 technical articles and presentations on semiconductor laser diodes, solid-state lasers and solar cells, and holds 16 patents.
GREGORY T. NIVEN
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING
Greg has spent the last 11 years involved with laser technology for the graphic arts and display markets. Before joining Novalux, he spent the six years at Coherent, Inc., where he directed their efforts in laser display. His prior five years were at Creo, Inc., where he specialized in high-power semiconductor lasers and optical imaging systems. Greg is a strong strategist who works effectively with customers to clearly define product requirements for a market opportunity. Greg received his B.S. degree in engineering physics from the University of Alberta in Canada.
ARAM MOORADIAN, PH.D.
FOUNDER
Aram Mooradian is the founder of Novalux, the inventor of Necsel™ technology, and the company’s chief scientist. Previously, he founded Micracor (Acton, Mass.), a company that commercialized the laser technology that he developed while leading the Quantum Electronics Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lincoln Laboratory. Aram is widely published and has been granted more than 40 patents. He has lectured worldwide, including an invitation under the Fulbright program. He has served as advisor to the United Nations, U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, NATO, the Industrial Science Board of Japan, and to France, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, and Canada. He was associate editor of the Journal of Quantum Electronics and Journal of the Optical Society of America. Dr. Mooradian is a fellow of the American Physical Society and the Optical Society of America. He holds a B.S. degree in physics from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. in physics from Purdue University.
