Novalux Restaurant Lighting
Lighting is one of the fundamental elements in the design of a restaurant. Novalux, a Bologna-based lighting company, also offers dedicated lighting solutions for restaurants.
In addition to its practical function of illuminating spaces, light plays a key role in creating theright atmosphere, influencing the customer experience and the success of the restaurant.
Lighting can be used to create different types of ambience, from intimate and relaxed to lively and dynamic. Soft lighting, for example, is ideal for restaurants that want to promote a romantic and tranquil atmosphere, while brighter lighting is often chosen for informal or fast food spaces where speed and clarity are priorities.
Well-designed lighting can also influence the mood of guests, making the ambience more welcoming and inviting.

Types of Restaurant Lighting
Restaurant lighting falls into three categories: ambient, accent and functional.
Ambient Lighting
It is the main light that defines the overall brightness level of a restaurant. It must be well balanced to avoid areas that are too dark or too bright. It is crucial to find a balance that ensures both visual comfort and a pleasant atmosphere.
Accent lighting
It is used to highlight particular areas or elements of the restaurant, such as spaces, architecture or plants. This type of lighting is perfect for adding a touch of sophistication and making the space more visually interesting.
Functional Lighting
Necessary in operational areas such as kitchens or staff passage areas, this light must ensure safety and practicality without compromising the overall aesthetics of the restaurant.

Novalux lighting design for restaurants

Novalux has been responsible for the lighting design of many bars and restaurants in Italy and around the world.
Among the projects realised by Novalux is the lighting of the Sentaku IZAKAYA restaurant in Bologna. Izakaya are popular establishments in Japan where one can breathe in an authentic atmosphere reminiscent of a thousand-year-old cultural and culinary tradition. The Sentaku IZAKAYA restaurant in Bologna is an example of this: an intimate and reserved venue, where the lighting, made with Novalux products, maintains a low tone and accompanies dinners and aperitifs in the background, with Mir adjustable projectors on Forty8 Track tracks hidden between the wooden slats of the ceilings, and Mini Tube projectors that elegantly descend from above to provide accent lighting on tables and counters. All Novalux luminaires have a black finish to match the colours of the walls and furnishings in the bar.
